Ironically, the pets that require low maintenance are among some exotic species. We don’t mean that they don’t require any attention at all. However, you will need to pay less attention to these specimens than if you had a dog or a cat. For instance, some of the following pet don’t need to be fed every day. That can be an advantage for frequent travelers who leave their homes for short periods of time.

Chinchilla

Chinchillas are small cute animals and therefore popular pets. They are very active rodents, as they are silent. They don’t require much attention, and it is a preferred pet for kids to learn to take care of a living creature.

The only drawback is that if they are left unattended and scape their cage, they may get lost inside the house. To find a lost chinchilla can be a challenge!

Tarantulas are easy to maintain, but if you are careless, they may run out of their cage and get lost easily. There are different tarantula species. Some of them have beautiful color combinations. For example, the red-legged tarantula is a preferred pet due to its amazing red nuances.

Most tarantula species are gentle, and not aggressive. Unlike what most people think, they run away before they attack. However, if you bother a tarantula, it will not hesitate to bite you.

A boa constrictor has the advantage that it is not a poisonous snake. However, it is a big and strong specimen that strangles its victims. Maintaining a boa constrictor is easy because it just requires a weekly supply of living mice. However, if you cannot stand the fact that it kills and eat its living prey, then this is not the right pet for you.

Iguana

Iguanas are an excellent pet if you are looking for an ornament for your garden more than a living creature to interact. They hardly move, and can stay still for very long periods of time. Iguanas are easy to feed, and will not miss your presence. However, they require a special environment similar to their natural habitat to live healthy and happy. If you were not fond of the boa constrictor, you’ll be glad to know that iguanas are herbivorous.
